Alike recycling clay – material with a history and unique character

This is clay that has already been used in the studio, then thoroughly reprocessed, re-hydrated, and combined with fresh clay. It is mainly made from scraps of Sibelco and Goerg & Schneider clays, which helps reduce waste and reuse valuable ceramic material.

Characteristics:

• Fired color: grey; shade, speckling, and traces of other clays may vary between batches
• Application: experimental, practice, workshop, and hand-building works
• Form: plastic clay, packed in 4 kg
• Firing temperature range: 1180–1240°C
• Composition: mixture of recycled ceramic clays, mainly Sibelco and Goerg & Schneider
• Drying shrinkage: variable depending on the batch
• Firing shrinkage: variable depending on the batch
• Water absorption after firing: variable depending on the batch and firing program

Each batch is slightly different, which is why this clay is best suited for works where the natural variability of the material is an advantage. We do not recommend it for precise series requiring identical color and parameters in every batch.

The parameters provided are for guidance only. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before carrying out a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen clay and glaze.
