Sibelco R2502 Clay 10kg
Sibelco R2502 Clay – finely grogged stoneware body in red
Sibelco R2502 is a stoneware body with 25% very fine grog. The 0–0.2 mm grain size provides structural support but leaves the surface much smoother than sculptural bodies with coarse grog. After firing, the color changes from light red to reddish-brown.
Characteristics:
- Fired color: light red to reddish-brown
- Application: hand-building, slab work, and sculpture
- Form: plastic clay, 10 kg packs
- Firing temperature range: 1000–1200°C
- Grog content: 25% grog, 0–0.2 mm grain
- Drying shrinkage: approx. 5.0%
- Firing shrinkage: approx. 4.6% at 1100°C
- Water absorption after firing: approx. 6.0% at 1100°C
Recommended for cups, bowls, vases, slab forms, and smaller sculptures. Thanks to its fine grog, it can be a convenient choice for those who want to achieve a warm red stoneware color without a very rough surface. It's a convenient alternative to the R2505 body when a slightly smoother surface is desired while maintaining a warm, red fired body color.
The given parameters are indicative. The final color, shrinkage, water absorption, and glaze behavior depend on the kiln, atmosphere, soaking time, and firing curve. Before producing a larger series, we recommend a technological test with the chosen body and glaze.
