Each mug is made on a potter's wheel, and the careful arrangement and shaping of the two types of clay result in a unique pattern appearing once the vessel is formed.

The inspiration for the cream-red version is Oshima – a Japanese volcanic island whose landscape has been shaped by ash and successive layers of volcanic earth. Although Oshima is still on my travel list, I had the opportunity to observe a similar combination of snow and volcanic ash during my climbs of Etna and Tateyama.

It is these two landscapes that inspired the two versions of the collection:

Tateyama – white and black, inspired by snow covering layers of dark, volcanic ash.

Oshima – cream and red, referencing the warm tones of the earth and the island's volcanic layers.

The mugs can remain more raw and natural, showcasing the structure and pattern of the clay, or they can be additionally glazed on the outside, which gives their surface a completely different character.

From the Oshima collection, there are 5 raw and 3 glazed mugs with a capacity of approx. 500 ml. Its form resembles a tankard more than a classic mug and was created for those who like larger, more distinctive vessels.

This collection is for people who appreciate alternative ceramic techniques, sensory experiences, and nature.
